If you use the app, the emergency centres automatically get an indication of your location and who you are. This information is normally transmitted over internet, however, when no internet connection is available, SMS is used to transmit this information to the emergency services (the SMS destination used for this, is free of charge). When you cannot communicate by speech, the operator can exceptionally also activate a chat function.
